After participating in several very competitive national team camps this summer, Clarkson University Women’s Hockey junior standout Jamie Lee Rattray and Golden Knight freshman Erin Ambrose are among an elite group of 40 talented Hockey Canada players who have been selected to attend Canada’s National Women’s Team September Camp/Fall Festival. The nine-day camp will take place on September 22-30 at the WinSport Canada Athletic & Ice Complex in Calgary.

Rattray, a native of Kanata, Ontario, and Ambrose, a Keswick, Ontario native, are among sixteen players from the 40-woman roster who are playing U.S. college hockey, including 10 from the ECAC. The camp roster includes four goaltenders, 13 defensemen and 23 forwards, who will be split up into Red and White teams for several practices and intrasquad games. The camp also includes exhibition games against Midget AAA teams from the Alberta Midget Hockey League.

The September Camp/Fall Festival will serve as an important evaluation opportunity for Canada’s National Women’s Team coaching staff and Hockey Canada’s team of scouts. Following the camp, players will be monitored at international events, such as the 2012 4 Nations Cup in Finland, as well as with their club teams during the 2012-13 season. These evaluations will assist coaches and scouts in selecting the team that will represent Canada at the 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship in Ottawa, Ont., next April, and the players that will be centralized with Canada’s National Women’s Team in Calgary for the 2013-14 season, leading up to the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.

Rattray Clarkson’s top goal scorer last season, skated with Canada’s U22 National Team at the 2012 Meco Cup in Fussen, Germany. Ambrose played this past season for the Toronto Junior Aero’s (PWHL). At the 2012 U18 World Championships, Ambrose was presented with the award for the Tournament’s Top Defenseman as well as being named as one of the top three players on her team throughout the tournament voted on by the coaching body.
