Kelsey Yam

Kelsey Yam is entering her third season as the Clarkson University Women's Soccer program's head coach.

In her first year as the team's leader, Yam posted five victories, including a four-game unbeaten streak to end the 2016 campaign. That momentum carried over in 2017 as the Golden Knights claimed eight victories, including four in conference, and gained their first ever appearance in the Liberty League Tournament. All of that added up to Yam being selected as the Liberty League Coach of the Year.

Prior to taking over the program in May 2016, Yam served as an assistant coach for league rival Vassar College, helping the Brewers to their second Liberty League Tournament appearance in five years. Yam's first professional coaching experience also came at Clarkson, as she served as the team's top assistant for two years, helping guide the team to 11 wins along with its best conference finish in two decades in 2014.

A native of Longmeadow, MA, Yam graduated from Skidmore College with a degree in Management & Business and a minor in Mathematics in 2013 prior to earning her MBA from Clarkson in May 2015. She played for four seasons with the Thoroughbreds, gaining all-conference status on three occasions, as Skidmore compiled a 38-26-9 record during her four seasons with the program, including a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances (2009 and 2011). A midfielder and forward, Yam scored 15 goals and eight assists for 38 points in 73 games, including 69 starts. She was a Liberty League First-Team all-star as a sophomore and junior, gaining NSCSAA Division III All-East honors in 2011, and was chosen as a Liberty League Second-Team all-star in 2012.

Just after graduation from Skidmore, Yam served as an assistant coach with Black Watch Premier Soccer, and she also participated in Uganda with the Soccer Without Borders program in the summer of 2012, helping to raise money for underprivileged kids worldwide while coaching soccer and teaching classes to children and young adults aged 5-to-20.
