Kalia Pharand joins Clarkson after spending two seasons with the Mississauga Jr. Hurricanes in the Ontario Women’s Hockey League’s U22 Elite division. The 5-foot-7 goaltender enjoyed an impressive final season with Mississauga, compiling an 18-6-0 record with a 1.69 goals-against average, a .933 save percentage and five shutouts across 25 appearances.

Pharand previously posted an 11-6-0 record, a 2.05 goals-against average, a .921 save percentage and two shutouts in 18 games during the 2024–25 season. Before transitioning to women’s hockey, the Sudbury, Ontario, native developed while competing in boys’ AAA hockey with the Sudbury Wolves U16 program.

Pharand also represented Ontario Red at the 2025 National Women’s Under-18 Championship. She appeared in four games and stopped 70 of 77 shots, finishing the tournament with a 1.86 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage. Her performance included a 19-save effort against Ontario Blue and 43 consecutive minutes of scoreless relief work in the team’s semifinal game. 

A composed and technically sound goaltender with experience competing at the highest levels of Canadian youth hockey, Pharand adds another talented option to Clarkson’s crease. She will wear No. 32 as a freshman during the 2026–27 season. Kalia's older brother, Alex is also a freshman on the Clarkson Men's Hockey Team.
