Dawson Labre joins the Clarkson Men's Hockey program for the 2026–27 season as a sophomore transfer from Ohio State University, bringing an impressive junior hockey background that includes stops in the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL) and British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL), along with international experience representing Canada.
A native of Les Cèdres, Quebec, Labre spent the 2025–26 season with the Ohio State Buckeyes of the Big Ten Conference. Although he did not appear in a regular-season game, he gained valuable experience practicing and developing alongside the Buckeyes' goaltending group. Labre was also recognized as an Ohio State Scholar-Athlete during his freshman year.
Prior to beginning his collegiate career, Labre spent the 2024–25 season with the West Kelowna Warriors of the BCHL. He appeared in 18 games, compiling a 6-8-4 record with a 3.06 goals-against average and an .895 save percentage. His season was cut short by an injury that required surgery, but he returned to the ice in preparation for his freshman season at Ohio State.
Labre previously enjoyed two successful seasons with the Smiths Falls Bears of the CCHL, establishing himself as one of the league's top goaltenders. During the 2023–24 season, he appeared in 40 regular-season games, posting a 24-13 record with a 2.16 goals-against average and a .920 save percentage. His goals-against average led the CCHL, and he continued his strong play into the postseason, recording a 2.39 goals-against average and .912 save percentage in 16 playoff appearances.
During the 2022–23 campaign with Smiths Falls, Labre recorded a 2.83 goals-against average and .918 save percentage, laying the foundation for his breakout season the following year. His performances in the CCHL earned him league All-Star recognition.
Labre also gained international experience representing Canada East at the World Junior A Challenge, helping his team capture a silver medal. During the tournament, he appeared in five games, recording a 3.05 goals-against average and .911 save percentage.
The 6-foot-3, left-catching goaltender brings size, junior hockey success, and international experience to Clarkson's crease. Labre will wear No. 35 during his sophomore season with the Golden Knights.
