Mike Clougherty

Mike Clougherty enters his first season as an Assistant Coach with the Clarkson University Men's Hockey program in 2026–27 after spending the previous two seasons as a Graduate Assistant and Video Coach with the Golden Knights under Head Coach JF Houle.

Clougherty joined the Clarkson staff in the fall of 2024 and quickly became an important part of the program's day-to-day operations. During his two seasons as a graduate assistant, he worked closely with the coaching staff on video analysis, game preparation, and player development. His responsibilities included breaking down game footage, assisting with scouting and preparation, and providing video resources to support individual and team improvement.

In June 2026, Clougherty was promoted to Assistant Coach, expanding his responsibilities within the program. In his new role, he assists with all aspects of Clarkson Hockey, including on-ice player development, recruiting, team operations, and the continued development of student-athletes both athletically and academically.

Prior to arriving at Clarkson, Clougherty served as Associate Head Coach of the Valley Jr. Warriors in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL). In that role, he gained valuable experience working with junior hockey players preparing for the next level of competition. His responsibilities included player development, practice preparation, and helping young athletes progress toward their collegiate hockey goals.

In addition to his junior hockey coaching experience, Clougherty founded Claw Hockey, an independent player development program based in Massachusetts. Through the program, he worked with players of various ages and skill levels, focusing on individual skill development and helping athletes improve their overall performance.

Clougherty graduated from Boston College in May 2024 with a bachelor's degree in Corporate Systems. He continued his education at Clarkson University, earning a Master of Business Administration from the Reh School of Business in the spring of 2026 while serving on the Golden Knights' coaching staff.

His combination of junior hockey coaching experience, individualized player development, video analysis, and familiarity with the Clarkson program provides a strong foundation as he moves into his expanded coaching role.

Clougherty enters the 2026–27 season as part of a Clarkson coaching staff led by Houle, alongside Associate Head Coach Chris Brooks and Assistant Coach Corey Leivermann.
