RATTRAY - CLARKSON ATHLETIC HALL of FAME

RattrayHOF

One of the nation’s top recruits for the Class of 2014, Jamie Lee Rattray lived up to the hype by the time her senior year rolled around, as she was named Division I Women’s Hockey’s top player by earning the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award and leading the Golden Knights to a National Title with a 5-4 win over University of Minnesota.

Rattray earned every bit of her accolades in the 2013-14 season, leading the nation in points with 66 while ranking second in goals scored with 29 and third in assists with 37. Her 1.61 points per game also ranked second nationally. The award season was capped by the Patty Kazmaier Award and the National Title, but it was a busy year in general for Rattray as she was named ECAC Hockey Player of the Year, USCHO First-Team All-American, and AHCA First-Team All-American.

The 2014 season was the culmination of years of hard work for Rattray and the Golden Knights. Although she finished her career as Clarkson’s all-time leading scorer with 181 points on 77 goals and 104 assists, it took Rattray until her 15th game to score her first collegiate goal. Once the seal was broken on the net, however, Rattray became one of the top goal scorers in NCAA Division I Women’s Hockey over the next three seasons, tallying a team-high 19 times as sophomore and 22 times as a junior, with the latter figure ranking 16th nationally in the 2012-13 season, a campaign in which she was named an ECAC Second-Team All-Star.

In her senior season, Rattray was lethal when the Knights went on the power play, leading the nation with 10 power-play goals. She posted a plus-41 plus/minus rating and scored at least one point in 31 of the team’s 41 games. She scored seven points in three NCAA Tournament games, despite being a marked player, recording three assists against Boston College, two more assists in the NCAA Frozen Four Semifinal contest against Mercyhurst, and then a goal and an assist in the NCAA Frozen Four Championship game, a power-play marker early in the second period that gave the Knights a 3-1 lead.

After capping off her collegiate career with a National Championship and numerous awards, Rattray was chosen sixth overall in the 2014 CWHL Draft by the Brampton Thunder. In professional hockey, she earned several all-star honors, including the title of CWHL MVP in the 2017-18 season when she scored 39 points in 28 games thanks to 22 goals and 17 assists. Rattray later represented Canada in the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing, scoring nine points on five goals and four assists in seven games as Canada won the Gold Medal for Women’s Hockey. Following that highlight, Rattray has continued her professional career in the PWHL with the Boston Fleet.
