ATHLETES of the WEEK - October 7, 2012

	Golf Tyler Cline Sophomore - Tuxedo, NY Tyler Cline came in second among 45 golfers at the ECAC Metro/Upstate Championships at the par-72 Blue Heron Hills Country Club. He shot 148 (76-72), just two strokes off the pace at the two-day event (October 6-7) to help Clarkson tie for second place in the tournament.

	Women's Hockey Erica Howe Junior, Goaltender - Ottawa, ONT ECAC Hockey's Goaltender of the Year last winter, Erica Howe began the 2012-13 campaign with two standout efforts as Clarkson swept archrival St. Lawrence. She turned aside all 32 St. Lawrence shots to post her 10th career shutout and first ever whitewash over the Saints with Friday's 1-0 win in Canton. Howe finished with 24 stops in Saturday's 3-2 victory at Cheel, including 10 over the final 20 minutes.

	Men's Soccer Saverino Spagnolo Senior, Goaltender - Ottawa, ONT Saverino Spagnolo made nine saves for his second straight shutout as Clarkson finished in a 0-0 tie at Utica College last Tuesdady night. Spagnolo made nine saves in Saturday's 1-0 overtime loss to RIT, coming up just short of his third straight shutout

	Cross Country Patrick Carroll Senior - Queensbury, NY Finishing in 10th place out of 112 runners, Patrick Carroll paced Clarkson's effort Saturday afternoon at the Hoffman Invitational held on the campus of St. Lawrence University. The Golden Knights’ men finished fifth among nine teams as Carroll led the way with a time of 26:47.13 over the 8,000-meter course.

	Women's Soccer Hailey Hider Freshman, Defense - Pittsford, NY With 13 minutes remaining in the second half of last Wednesday night's game against Potsdam State, Hailey Hider stepped into a shot about 35 yards out and sent a missile that sunk just under the crossbar to lift the Golden Knights out of a five-game winless streak with a 2-1 victory over the Bears at Hantz Turf Field.
