Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Fox Records Six Points in Clarkson's 22-6 Win Over Plattsburgh State

Potsdam, NY – The driving rain that began just as the teams began to warm up did not slow down the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team's offense as the Golden Knights stayed unbeaten with a 22-6 win over Plattsburgh State Wednesday at Hantz Field.

The Golden Knights pushed their mark to 4-0 on the campaign and will next take on Brockport on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals suffered their second straight defeat, dropping to 3-2 on the year.

The two teams traded goals in the first three minutes, but after that stretch the play was firmly in the hands of the Golden Knights. Two man-up goals in the middle of the first allowed the Knights to push their margin to 5-1, and the Knights finished the period with a 9-2 lead after Donnie Duffus converted just shy of the buzzer.

Clarkson's offense was consistent for the remainder of the game, scoring three times in the second and then five times in both the third and fourth periods.

Robert Fox recorded six points with two goals and four assists and Connor Holly produced two goals and two assists for four points. Four other players had at least three points in the game, including three-goal efforts from both James O'Rourke and Alex Alfieri. Gave Vassallo won nine of his 13 tries on faceoffs and led the team with six groundballs. Tristen Dillon also added four groundballs.

For Plattsburgh State, Peter Urso scored a pair of goals and Finn Whitlock notched two caused turnovers and two groundballs.

Clarkson held a 58-24 advantage in total shots and a 41-15 lead in shots on goal. Clarkson likewise controlled loose balls, winning the battle on the ground 43-19. Griffin Emerson had five saves in the first 42-plus minutes of the game, while Chris Kozlowski and Tucker Ives each had two stops in relief duty. Cole Orehosky matched Emerson's time in goal and had 14 saves for the Cardinals. Jake Mulcahy played the final 17:36 between the pipes for Plattsburgh, stopping five shots.
