Abernethy and Polky Named Liberty League Rookies of the Week

Nate Abernethy of the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team was picked Liberty League Rookie of the Week for the sixth time in 2025-26, while Maddy Polky of the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team earned her first such honor of the season when the conference announced its weekly award winners on Monday afternoon.

Abernethy averaged 14.0 points per game to go along with 3.5 rebounds per contest in a pair of games against Union College and RPI, including a 19-point effort against Union on Friday evening. For the season, he finished with averages of 14.2 ppg, 5.6 rpg, and 0.9 blocks per game to go along with a 44.6% success rate on shots from the floor, all figures that placed inside the top 15 in the Liberty League.

Polky had her best weekend of the season, averaging 12.0 points per game while shooting 50.0% from the floor. She had 12 points in each contest against both the Garnet Chargers and Engineers. She closed out her first collegiate season averaging 6.6 points and 2.2 rebounds per game, though her numbers were better in conference play when she averaged 8.2 points per contest. All six of her games in which she scored in double figures came against league opponents.
