Clinton, NY – Senior Drew Reigelsperger finished as the runner-up for the Clarkson University Cross Country team in Saturday's Hamilton Invitational, as the Golden Knights placed second in both the women's and men's races.

The Golden Knights' women placed second among six teams with 68 points, trailing only host Hamilton (15) and a head of Bard (71), Morrisville State (100), Sage (132), and SUNY Poly (161). Clarkson's men took second out of eight teams with 49 points, behind Hamilton (19) and leading Morrisville State (102), Bard (130), Onondaga Community College (131), Hartwick (172), Sage (192), and SUNY Poly (216).

Senior Alexandra Simon finished the 6000-meter race with a time of 24 minutes, 56.4 seconds, good enough for 14th in the field of 49 runners. Simon is also the first female Clarkson runner besides Gianna Capoccia to eclipse the 25-minute mark in a 6K race since the 2021 season when Hannah Yorkey, Elizabeth Fawwaz, and Ella Weldy each did so in the final race of the season. Meagan Speizer was the next Clarkson runner to cross the finish line, taking 16th in 25:40.5. Skylar Francis followed about 30 seconds later, coming in 19th in 26:12.5. Janneke Baks (21st, 27:09.6) and Kelly Lahiff (27th, 27:55.2) closed out Clarkson's team score of 68 points, while Madeline Bresnan (37th, 29:10.6) and Olivia Stalker (39th, 29:54.5) were the Knights' alternate scorers.

Reigelsperger broke up the party where the top 13 runners could have all been from Hamilton College, but his second-place showing was only 8.5 seconds off the pace and 16.5 seconds faster than the third-place finisher. His time of 25:28.7 was the fastest by any Clarkson runner in any 8000-meter since Dan Fritz finished the 2013 Liberty League Championships in 25:28 (no tenths of a second available) or Alex Benway at the 2011 NCAA Atlantic Regionals where he closed out the race in 25:25 (no tenths of a second available).

James Lynch was the second runner for the Knights, placing 15th overall in 26:48.4 and Frank Consolazio came in 17th in 27:04.2. The next three runners for Clarkson crossed the finish line in quick succession, as Jack Zieber came in 20th (27:08.4), Matthew Clarner was 21st (27:09.8), and Spencer Reese took 22nd (27:11.1). Wyatt Worcester finished off the alternate times for the Knights, coming in 26th overall in 27:39.5.
