Reigelsperger and Capoccia Highlight Knights at Hoffmann Invitational

Canton, NY – Gianna Capoccia and Drew Reigelsperger posted the top time for the Clarkson University Cross Country team as the Golden Knights competed at the annual Hoffmann Invitational on the campus of St. Lawrence University.

The Golden Knights' women finished sixth among eight teams with 170 points in their 6000-meter race, while the men were fourth out of 11 squads with 131 points in the 8K. Clarkson has next weekend off, but they will be back in action the first Saturday of October in Pennsylvania.

Capoccia was Clarkson's top runner in the women's race, crossing the finish line just a second over the 25 minute mark at 25:01.0, good enough for 36th place in the field of 90 competitors. Next for the Knights was Skylar Francis, as she ended up in 57th place with a time of 27:21.1. Megan Edwards followed in 64th in 29:02.8 as the last Clarkson runner to close out the event in less than 30 minutes. Alexandra Simon just missed the threshold at 30:03.8, taking 72nd, while Kylie Nowicki finished off the team scoring by taking 77th in 31:29.2.

On the men's side, both Drew Reigelsperger and Frank Consolazio ran sub-28 minutes in their 8000-meter race. Reigelsperger had the best time at 27:17.7, placing 23rd in the event that included 124 runners. Consolazio was less than seven seconds behind in 27:24.1, taking 27th as the second-fastest freshman in the field. Riley Sawyer (43rd) had his best performance ever on the St. Lawrence course, finishing in 28:18.0 which was 40 seconds faster than his previous best on the Hoffmann 8K run. James Lynch was close behind Sawyer with a time of 28:24.6, taking 48th, and Kaleb Swartley took 57th with a time of 29:05.4 to round out Clarkson's scoring five.
