Reigelsperger In Top 40 for Knights at Liberty League Championships

Canton, NY – Sophomores Drew Reigelsperger and Alexandra Simon had the top finishes for the Clarkson University Cross Country team as the Golden Knights competed at the annual Liberty League Cross Country Championships held at the Ronald C. Hoffmann Course on the campus of St. Lawrence University.

The Golden Knights' men finished in seventh place among nine teams with 196 points while Clarkson's women were eighth out of nine teams and logged 252 points. The program will take a break from competition but will finish off the season at the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships in Connecticut in two weeks.

Reigelsperger had the best finish across the board for the Golden Knights, coming in 37th place among 111 competitors in the men's race, finishing off the 8000-meter course with a time of 26 minutes, 35.8 seconds. Just 15 seconds later, Riley Sawyer crossed the line in 26:50.8 to come in 44th overall, as he and Reigelsperger were the only Clarkson runners in the top 50 of the event. Narrowly missing that mark was freshman Frank Consolazio, who took 58th in 27:23.1, while Tyler Nickels (63rd, 27:34.0) and James Lynch (64th, 27:35.0) closed out Clarkson's team scoring. Rounding out Clarkson's top seven were Kaleb Swartley in 70th (27:57.9) and Caleb Tribotte in 73rd (28:05.9).

On the women's side, Alexandra Simon narrowly topped Skylar Francis for the best time for the Knights, finishing 68th in 26:04.1, while Francis was 71st in 26:11.9, amongst a field of 101 runners. Megan Edwards took 82nd in 27:40.0, Kelly Lahiff was 88th in 28:55.8, and Kylie Nowicki finished 93rd with a time of 29:51.7 to complete Clarkson's scoring for the race. Elizabeth Kraynak also placed 97th (31:33.7) and Meilin Lamanna was 99th (33:37.6).
