Capoccia and Consolazio Top Runners For Clarkson at Paul Short

Bethlehem, PA – Freshman Frank Consolazio and senior Gianna Capoccia each had the best times of their collegiate careers for the Clarkson University Cross Country team, as the Golden Knights competed in some large fields at the Paul Short Run on the campus of Lehigh University.

The Golden Knights' men finished their race in 38th place out of 41 squads with 1002 points, the Men's College White 8K. The women ended up in 24th place out of 32 teams with 612 points, which was the Women's College Green 6K.

Consolazio was the top finisher for the Green and Gold in a very deep field of 373 runners, taking 159th in 26 minutes, 38.5 seconds, easily his best time of the 2024 season for 8000-meter races. Drew Reigelsperger also finished in under 27 minutes, closing out the race in 26:55.1 for 190th. Riley Sawyer was next across the line for the Knights, taking 233rd with a time of 27:22.5, and Tyler Nickels was right behind Sawyer in 240th place in 27:26.0. James Lynch closed out Clarkson's team score by taking 290th place with a time of 28:02.4.

Outside of the team scoring were Anthony Fiacco (300th, 28:10.9), Evan Baird (323rd, 28:32.1), Caleb Tribotte (325th, 28:35.2), Kaleb Swartley (328th, 28:37.7), and Derek Ferreira (362nd, 30:08.7).

Clarkson's women were in the final race of the day with Gianna Capoccia placing 44th among 245 runners with a time of 24:16.4 over 6000 meters. Skylar Francis just missed making the top 100, coming in 108th place in 25:42.9. Capoccia and Francis were the only two Clarkson runners in the top half of the field, though Alexandra Simon was close in 149th, finishing in 26:35.7. Kelly Lahiff and Megan Edwards finished a second apart in 194th and 195th to finish off the Golden Knights scoring, with Lahiff crossing the line in 28:24.3 and Edwards going in 28:25.3. Kylie Nowicki (213th, 29:49.1) and Elizabeth Kraynack (230th, 31:52.6) were just outside the team scoring.
