Geneva, NY – Sophomore Drew Reigelsperger became the latest Clarkson University Cross Country runner to win the Cross Country-Only Championships on Saturday as the Golden Knights competed in the annual event at Seneca Lake State Park.

The Golden Knights' men won the event for the seventh straight season (and 13th time overall), scoring 20 points, ahead of Hobart (50), Paul Smiths (83), SUNY Canton (98), and Keuka (139). On the women's side, Clarkson took second with 35 points, trailing William Smith (23), but ahead of Keuka (95), SUNY Canton (101), and Paul Smiths (DNP).

Reigelsperger won the 8000-meter event with a time of 26 minutes, 45 seconds, a touch slower than his time last year that had him in the third spot. Frank Consolazio was 10 seconds after his teammate with a time of 26:55.4, claiming the runner-up position in the 48-man field. Clarkson then had three of the next five finishers to close out its team score. Riley Sawyer came in fourth in 27:12.7, Tyler Nickels crossed the line in 28:00.6 for sixth place, and James Lynch was just behind Nickels for seventh in 28:01.7. If any of those earlier runners had faltered, Clarkson was also boosted by Evan Baird in ninth (28:22.7), Kaleb Swartley in 12th (28:28.7), and Caleb Tribotte in the 13th spot (28:33.0).

Although the Knights' women were without their top runner, her finish still would have put Clarkson in second place regardless of the spot. Alexandra Simon had her best finish with a second-place showing among the 37 participants with a time of 25:26.6, just short of her personal best in a 6000-meter race. Skylar Francis took the fourth spot in 26:15.7 and Megan Edwards ended up in seventh place in 27:35.0. Also in the top 10, Kelly Lahiff closed out her race with a time of 28:09.5, and Kylie Nowicki came in 18th place in 29:21.5 to round out Clarkson's scoring. Elizabeth Kraynak (23rd, 31:36.0) and Meilin Lamanna (25th, 32:32.6) were just outside the team scoring for the Knights.
