Chateauneuf and Nickels Top Runners for Knights at Aldrich Invitational

Middlebury, VT – Freshman Nathalie Chateauneuf and sophomore Tyler Nickels were the top finishers for the Clarkson University Cross Country teams on Saturday, as the Golden Knights finished fourth at the Aldrich Invitational, hosted by Middlebury College.

The Golden Knights' men took fourth with 104 points, trailing Middlebury (23), Union (44), Plattsburgh State (76), and ahead of Norwich (137). The women also placed fourth via tie-breaker with 93 points, behind Middlebury (18), Union (50), and Plattsburgh State (93), but a handful of points better than Norwich (112).

Tyler Nickels was a little under a minute off the pace, finishing the 6000-meter race in 20 minutes, 52.7 seconds, good enough for 14th among the 64 collegiate runners. Senior Andrew Wade was next in 16th with a time of 20:56.5. A pack of Clarkson runners then crossed the finish line just a few seconds apart about 90 seconds later as Caeden Bailey took 34th (22:27.8), Derek Ferreira was 35th (22:27.9), and Adam Jansen came in 36th (22:30.4) to close out Clarkson's scoring five. Patrick Murray (40th, 22:54.3) and Alex Odom (42nd, 23:10.6) were the next two runners for the Knights.

For the women, Nathalie Chateauneuf was Clarkson's top runner, closing out the short course 4000-meter event in 18 minutes, 25.0 seconds, good enough for 17th in the field of 40 collegiate runners. Classmate Ava Frost was roughly a minute behind Chateauneuf, coming in 23rd in 19:24.7, one spot ahead of senior Ava Schieffert (19:30.5). Meilin Lamanna took 31st with a time of 20:50.5 and Kylie Nowicki rounded out Clarkson's top five by coming in 35th in 21:41.8. Megan Edwards (37th, 22:16.8) and Madison Witt (38th, 22:21.3) positioned themselves as tie-breakers for the Knights.
