Former Golden Knights defenseman and coach, Phil Roy, helped the Shawinigan Cataractes to their first ever QMJHL Presidents Trophy. The "Q" is one of Canada's three Major Junior leagues and with the win, the Cataractes will move on to the
Memorial Cup in Saint John, NB. The Memorial Cup will feature the champion from each Major Junior league in Canada.
Roy was in his first season with Shawinigan after 2 seasons as the Head Coach at Notre Dame in Saskatchewan.
In the AHL, Head Coach J.F. Houle has his team, Laval Rocket (Montreal Canadians affiliate), in the Eastern Conference Finals. Like Roy, Houle was a former player for the Golden Knights and then came back to coach with Clarkson before jumping to pro hockey. Houle's team is down 3-2 to the Springfield Thunderbirds.
Tererance Amorosa is on the playoff roster with the Rocket but has not appeared in the playoffs. He has 1 goal and 12 assists in 35 regular season games in the AHL. In the Western Conference Final, the Stockon Head (Calgary Flames affiliate) has seen Greg Moro get action in 3 games. Moro registered 1 goal and 6 assists in the regular season with Stockton.
