Canton, NY - Freshman Nathalie Chateauneuf and senior Dylan Richard each finished 79th overall to place in the top half of the field, leading the Clarkson University Cross Country team at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regionals, held on Saturday at Ronald C. Hoffmann Cross Country Course on the campus of St. Lawrence University.

With heavy overnight rains, the course had some muddy spots along with puddles, but times were relatively close to normal, though somewhat subdued for the end of the season when the fastest times are to be expected. Clarkson's women finished 19th among 21 teams with 603 points while the Golden Knights' men were 16th among 23 squads with 468 points.

Chateauneuf took 79th among 159 runners in the women's race, finishing off the 6000-meter run with a time of 25 minutes, 40.9 seconds. She began the race near the bottom third at the 1000-meter mark, but steadily improved her standing. At the one-mile mark, Chateauneuf was up to 103rd, and by the two-mile position she was in 84th before moving up a handful of spots for her final finish. Meilin Lamanna was next for the Knights, taking 133rd in 28:55.8. It would be another minute before another Clarkson runner crossed the finish line, but the remainder of Clarkson's squad were close together in the standings. Megan Edwards took 143rd (30:16.7), Kylie Nowicki was 144th (31:04.2), and Elizabeth Schneider came in 147th (31:38.3) to round out Clarkson's scoring five. The next two runners assured Clarkson of its spot in the team standings, as Madison Witt was 148th (32:08.0) and Sydney Alexanian came in 149th (32:57.8).

On the men's side, four runners finished in the top 100, but none of the Golden Knights had the improvement that Chateauneuf saw, instead running consistently in their groups. Dylan Richard was Clarkson's top performer, coming in 79th out of 165 participants with a time of 28:31.5. The last two races saw classmate Eric Nowak take the top position for Clarkson, and he was just a few spots behind Richard in 84th in 28:42.6. Sophomore Tyler Nickels crossed the line about 15 seconds later, coming in 93rd in 28:59.7, and freshman Andrew Wade was 98th in 29:11.4 to also finish in the top 100. Caeden Bailey closed out Clarkson's team scoring by taking 119th in 30:07.8, Derek Ferreira then finished 125th (30:38.5) and Evan Baird placed 129th (31:06.3).
