The Knights came out in front of a good Family Weekend crowd looking to secure their first win of the season.
Clarkson got the scoring going at 3:34, when
Ryan Richardson was able to hit the top corner over the blocker of Mercyhurst goaltender Owen Say. Mercyhurst was able to answer back when Joe Maziarz scored at 7:20 to make it 1-1. The Knights would take the lead into the break when
Ryan Richardson scored at 11:11 to make it 2-1.
In the 2nd period the Knights got the breakthrough scoring they had been looking for as they exploded for 3 goals.
Alex Campbell made it 3-1 at 9:13 for the Knights. Then at 16:58
Anthony Callin got his first of the season when he made it 4-1. The Knights kept the pressure on when
Mathieu Gosselin got his first of the season to make it 5-1.
In the 3rd, the Knights would get lots of offensive zone time, which worked out to be their best team defense, never really allowing Mercyhurst to get any grade A chances or sustained pressure.
The Knights would go 0 for 3 on the power play and killed off all 4 chances for Mercyhurst with the man advantage.

Ethan Haider made 21 saves on the night to get his first win of the season.
