Cronin and Yorkey Lead Knights at Aldrich Invite

Middlebury, VT – Seniors Hannah Yorkey and Kevin Cronin led way for the Clarkson University Cross Country team on Saturday as the pair each finished in the top 10 at the Aldrich Cross Country Run Invitational.

The Golden Knights' women placed second out of four teams with 57 points, trailing only host Middlebury (21) but ahead of St. Michael's (69) and Norwich (103). The Green and Gold men were third among four with 62 points, behind Middlebury (15) and St. Michael's (60) and ahead of Norwich (117).

Yorkey had a podium finish by taking third out of 48 competitors with a time of 24 minutes, 15.5 seconds over the 6,000-meter course. Classmate Elizabeth Fawwaz crossed the finish line a little under 30 seconds later in 24:43.2 to take seventh, while freshman Kelsey Hamilton was the third finisher for the Knights, taking 15th in 25:36.2. Ella Weldy, another freshman, took 22nd with a time of 26:35.7, and senior Gabriella Broga closed out the scoring five for the Golden Knights, taking 24th in 26:49.3. The next two for Clarkson were Sarah Weeks (30th, 27:19.0) and Melissa Brown (31st, 27:22.9).

On the men's side, Kevin Cronin cracked the top 10 in his first race of the season, taking ninth in 27:48.7 over the 8,000-meter event. Eric Nowak and Tyler Nickels had back-to-back finishes, coming in 14th (28:43.6) and 15th (28:50.5), respectively. Also nearly finishing back-to-back roughly a minute later were Simon Zehr (21st, 29:36.3) and Angus Cropley (23rd, 29:50.9) as the duo rounded out the scoring for the Golden Knights' men. Dylan Richard (27th, 30:15.3) and Riley Sawyer (30th, 30:24.8) were the sixth and seventh place finishers for Clarkson.
