Knights Finish Weekend at 4-0 with Sweeps of Oswego State and Oneonta State

Potsdam, NY – Only one of the six sets on Saturday saw both teams reach 20 points as the Clarkson University Volleyball team cruised to a pair of victories against SUNYAC opponents, downing Oswego State in three (25-19, 25-23, 25-11) and beating Oneonta State in three straight (25-13, 25-12, 25-18) at Alumni Gymnasium.

The Golden Knights moved to 6-3 on the season with the four-match sweep over the weekend and will be back in action in New Jersey when they take on Stevens Institute of Technology, University of Scranton, and Stockton University.

After two reasonably close sets, especially the middle game, Clarkson ran away from the Lakers in Saturday's opener. The Knights hit .417 in the third set while holding Oswego State to -.190 (3-7-21). Sara Galante led Clarkson with 10 kills while Isabelle Crow contributed across the board with 31 assists, 13 digs, 6 aces, and 4 kills. Kristin Werdine also chipped in nine kills and Abigail Spector had 10 digs, while Emma Baxter produced 17 digs and six assists.

In the second match of the day, the Knights offense ran clean in the first two sets, battering Oneonta State to the tune of a .370 attack percentage in the first and .321 in the second. Clarkson struggled comparatively in the third with nine errors, but Oneonta hit -.174 as the Knights turned an early three-point deficit into a win with a strong run midway through the set.

Gillian Kurtic hit .643 (9-0-14) and Megan McEwen hit .500 (7-1-12) with three blocks, including two solo efforts. Sara Galante was just shy of a double-double in a few different ways with eight kills, eight digs, and seven aces. Kristin Werdine had 12 digs and Isabelle Crow recorded 31 assists and 11 digs.
