In a weekend that honored hockey alumni from the 1960's and 70's the current Knights treated their predecessors to a weekend sweep with tonight's 3-0 win over Dartmouth.
The Knights held the shot advantage over the first 20 minutes and after surviving a flury in the 2nd by Dartmouth were able to take the lead on a
Zach Tsekos goal at 17:43 of the 2nd period. The Knights would capitalize on a power play 6:43 into the 3rd, when
Noah Beck was able to score from the high slot.Â
Alex Campbell fired a rocket top shelf to seal the game for the Knights. Â
Dartmouth pulled their goalie but
Ethan Haider was able to preserve the shutout making 27 saves.
Clarkson vaults up to third place with the sweep on the weekend.Â
As part of the 100 years of Hockey celebration, alumni in attendance this weekend was Sid Tanchak '79, Dave Taylor '77 (Clarkson's All Time Leading Scorer, Jeff Hewitt '77, Glen Thomaris '77, David Gray '75, Dan O'Driscoll '75, John Paterson '75, Bob Clarke '74, Mike Ornella '74, Stan Spadoni '74, Peter Harasym '73, Steve Warr '72, Bob Empie '68, Jocko Mclennan '68, Jack Levitt '68, Jack Graves '62, Mel Tomalty '60. These players in attendance this weekend laced up during the 1957 to 1979 seasons, in which these players accumulated 1,556 career points, 320 wins along with:
• a 3rd place finish at the 1958 NCAA Final FourÂ
• a 2nd place finish in the 1962 NCAA Final FourÂ
• 1965-66 ECAC Regular Season Champions
• 1966 ECAC Tournament Champs
• a 2nd place finish in the 1966 NCAA Final Four
• a 2nd place finish in the 1970 NCAA Final FourÂ
• 1976-77 ECAC Regular Season Champions
