Yorkey, Fawwaz, and Cronin in Top 50 at NCAA Mideast Regional Championships

Waterford, CT – Seniors Hannah Yorkey and Kevin Cronin led the way for the Clarkson University Cross Country team at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championships, as the Golden Knights finished in the middle of the pack in both races at Harkness Memorial State Park.

The Golden Knights' men came in 13th of 26 teams with a score of 392, while the Clarkson women were 12th of 24 teams with 325 points.

The first race of the day was the men's 8000-meter event at Harkness Memorial, and senior Kevin Cronin took 50th in the field of 174 runners with a time of 26 minutes, 50.7 seconds. Eric Nowak was next for the Knights, coming in 76th in 27:44.2, and Dylan Richard had his best showing of the season by coming in 79th with a time of 27:45.8, running nearly a minute faster than his previous best in an 8K race in 2021. Angus Cropley was the next Clarkson runner to cross the finish line at 28:17.1 for 93rd place and he was immediately followed by Riley Sawyer in 28:18.6 to close out the Golden Knights' team score. Tyler Nickels was next in 99th (28:33.1) and Simon Zehr took 106th (28:54.7).

For the women, Hannah Yorkey and Elizabeth Fawwaz both turned in top-35 performance in a field of 172 runners. Yorkey was 29th with a time of 23:18.4, nearly 30 seconds faster than her previous best in a 6000-meter event, while Fawwaz came in 35th in 23:28.3, almost a full minute faster than her best time of 2021 when she ran the Hoffman Invite in 24:22 back in late-September. Each of the two seniors finished in the top seven among participants from the Liberty League. Freshmen Kelsey Hamilton and Ella Weldy were also close together in terms of time and spots in the final standings, with Hamilton taking 74th in 24:39.1 and Weldy coming in 80th in 24:44.5. Gabriella Broga completed the team scoring by taking 111th overall in 25:34.8. Sarah Weeks also took 136th (26:24.4) and Melissa Brown was 146th (26:51.2).
