Geneva, NY – For the fourth consecutive time, the Clarkson University Cross Country team swept the women's and men's scoring at the Cross Country-Only Championships, hosted by Hobart and William Smith College at Seneca Lake State Park.

The event includes schools that only have cross country programs without the benefit of having track and field programs as well.

On the women's side, Clarkson won easily with just 18 points, ahead of William Smith College (56), Keuka College (111), Paul Smith's College (138), SUNY Canton (146), Morrisville State (147), Hilbert College (170), and Medaille College (177). Clarkson's men also easily won top honors with just 19 points, finishing with fewer points than Hobart College (57), Morrisville State (96), Paul Smith's College (119), SUNY Canton (130), Medaille College (146), and Hilbert College (180).

The Golden Knights' women came within a couple spots from sweeping the top five, earning four of the top five positions and five of the top seven. Senior Hannah Yorkey won the race among a field of 69 runners, finishing off the 6,000-meter event in 23 minutes, 51.6 seconds. Classmate Elizabeth Fawwaz crossed the line less than 20 seconds later, taking the second spot in 24:08.2. Freshman Kelsey Hamilton was the third Clarkson runner to finish in under 25 minutes, closing out the race in 24:57.5. After the next spot was claimed by a William Smith runner, freshman Ella Weldy came in fifth in 25:46.9, and two spots later Melissa Brown placed seventh in 26:16.5 to close out Clarkson's scoring. Gabriella Broga and Sarah Weeks were the next two for the Knights, placing 10th and 13th, respectively.

Yorkey's win marked the sixth straight time that a Clarkson runner has won the event, joining Sarah Duclos (2015, 2017), Alison Davis (2016), Abigail Sullivan (2018), and Elizabeth Fawwaz (2019). There was no race in 2020.

For the men, the Knights came nearly swept their way through the top seven spots, only to be spoiled by the runner-up from Morrisville State. Senior Kevin Cronin won the race handily, finishing off the 8,000-meter event in 26 minutes, 27.8 seconds, crossing the line 36 seconds faster than any other competitor in the field of 67. Senior Eric Nowak took the final spot on the podium with a third-place finish in 28:10.0, freshman Tyler Nickels was next in fourth place with a time of 28:36.4, and senior Simon Zehr rounded out the top five in the race with a finish in 28:41.0. Senior Angus Cropley closed out Clarkson's scoring five by coming in sixth place in 28:46.4, though Dylan Richard and Riley Sawyer took seventh and eighth, respectively, more than enough to still help the Knights take top honors had any of the other runners faltered.

Cronin's win marked his second victory at the CCOC, as he also won the 2019 event.
