The close games between Clarkson and Quinnipiac continued into Saturday, as the teams once again skated to a 1-1 tie. Unlike Fri, the Knights were able to win their first ECAC OT Shootout and get the extra point in the standings.
Clarkson fell behind in the second period when Ethan de Jong scored at 13:48. The Knights continued to put pressure on throughout the third and with 40 seconds left and the extra attacker on,
Mathieu Gosselin was able to bang home a rebound and tie the game for the Knights. For Gosselin it was his 6th of the season and 2nd of the weekend.
Overtime did not produce a goal, so for the second straight night the teams went to a shootout. Coach Jones selected
Zach Tsekos to shoot first and his goal stood up as the lone goal of the session.
Ethan Haider made all 3 stops to secure the shootout victory. Haider finished with 14 saves, while the Knights sent 27 shots to the net against Quinnipiac.
Clarkson was 0 for 5 on the power play, which included a disrupted 5 min major. The Knights penalty kill held the Bobcats in check for the second straight night, keeping them 0 for 3.
The teams finish up their 3 games series on Sunday at 4:00 pm.
