For the first time in close to a month, the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team will be in action as the team returns for its final non-league contest of the year, taking on Morrisville on Tuesday afternoon.

Live Stats

The Series: These two teams are already familiar with one another, as Clarkson opened up with the Mustangs at the Max Ziel Tournament, hosted by Oswego State. The Golden Knights have never lost to Morrisville in four meetings, including a 65-33 win in the mid-November game. Clarkson rolled out to a 25-3 lead through the first 10 minutes and never looked back in that contest.

Key Stats for Clarkson (4-4): Junior Hannah Earl notched a double-double in the season-opening win against Morrisville, posting 13 points and 11 rebounds. The forward ranks second on the team in scoring at 10.1 points per game, just ahead of first-year guard Mariah Benavides, who has tossed in 9.1 points per game. Benavides also ranks among the conference leaders in 3-point field goals made with 15. Junior Emma Buonanno was mostly quiet against the Mustangs, but she has played a vital role in Clarkson's success in 2019-20, averaging 8.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game, with the latter figure leading the Liberty League. Buonanno has recorded two double-doubles and came within a few steals of a triple-double against Cazenovia on November 23rd.

Key Stats for Morrisville (4-5): The Mustangs have approached .500 this year despite a rebounding deficit of nearly 19 per game. Tori Rockefeller leads the team with 17.6 points per game thanks to 32 3-point field goals. That figure grows to 19.4 points per game when the contest against Clarkson is disregarded, as she had just three points against the Knights. Alexis Campbell, who ranks second on the team in scoring at 13.0 ppg, led the Mustangs in scoring the first time against Clarkson, tossing in eight points thanks to a 5-for-6 effort from the free throw line. Rachel Vieira has also popped 20 3-pointers and has emerged as a steadier scorer for Morrisville recently. She averages 11.4 points per contest, a figure that has jumped considerably as of late. Vieira was scoring just 7.0 ppg in her first four contests but has more than doubled that figure recently, knocking in 15.0 ppg in the last five games.
