Oneonta, NY - Senior Elyse Green made eight saves for the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team on Sunday, but a penalty kick got past her in the 80th minute to end the Golden Knights season-opening four-game unbeaten streak as the Green and Gold dropped a 1-0 decision to Hartwick College on day two of the Mayor's Cup Tournament.

The Golden Knights moved to 3-1-1 on the season while the Hawks improved to 3-1-0. Clarkson begins a three-game home stand next Friday when the team hosts Oswego State at 3:00 pm on Hantz Turf Field.

Clarkson had the first shot of the game when Megan Murphy went wide late in the third minute, but Hartwick owned a 10-3 edge in shots in the first half and ended up with a 18-9 edge overall. However, the Knights' nine attempts failed to get on frame, never truly challenging Hartwick goalkeeper Cassandra Robataille.

It appeared as if the Knights, despite coming up short on offense, could slip by with a possible tie, but the Hawks were awarded a penalty kick at 79:42. Gabrielle Kreppein converted for her first goal of the year to give Hartwick a 1-0 advantage. After the lone goal of the game, Clarkson had one last gasp on offense, but Danielle Martin's shot in the 87th minute missed its mark.

Green made eight saves in the defeat and still owns an .846 save percentage on the season. Robataille was not called upon to make a save for Hartwick. The Hawks also had a 5-2 edge in corner kick chances.
