Senior Derek Hart of the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team was awarded for his outstanding season on Monday when the Liberty League announced its end of the year awards as he was chosen as a unanimous Liberty League First-Team All-Star.

Hart was one of three unanimous selections to the Liberty League First-Team, along with two players from regular-season title winner Skidmore College.

The senior forward enjoyed one of the best seasons in program history. Hart recorded the highest scoring average in Liberty League history (since 2004-05) and also led the league in total points (554), field goals made (219), and field goal percentage (63.8%). His numbers were even more impressive in conference games as he averaged 24.1 points per game with a 65.9% field goal rate. He also ranked third in the conference in rebounds (8.2 rpg) and blocked shots (1.6 bpg).

Hart was picked as the conference's Player of the Week or to the Honor Roll on 10 occasions in 2016-17. Those selections were easy as he produced 15 20-point games and was never short of double figures. He surpassed 30 points on three occasions and also shot 60% or better from the floor 16 times. His 554 points surpassed a 58-year-old program record and his 130 blocked shots became the new all-time standard at Clarkson as well.

On the national scene Hart ranks seventh in the country in total field goals made despite the Golden Knights not reaching the post-season. He is also 10th in the nation in field goal percentage and tied for 21st in scoring average.
