Potsdam, NY - For the third time in four days, the Clarkson University Swim team won both sides of a dual meet, this time handily downing Utica College Saturday afternoon at Fuller Pool.
The Golden Knights' men's team swept their events with a 126-86 win, while the women were even more decisive at 130-79. Clarkson will close out the season at the regional meet in mid-February.
Freshman Mike Rowe (Glenville, NY) won three events Saturday, cruising to victories in the 800 freestyle (9:03.86), 200 individual medley (2:23.86) and 400 freestyle (4:26.38). Sophomore Brendan Hofler (Glen Gardner, NJ) also won a pair of events, taking the 50 freestyle (27.48) and 100 butterfly (1:08.60). Seniors Evan Pedersen (Geneva, NY) and Matt Ulsh (Rochester, MN) both won an event as well, with Pedersen taking the 200 freestyle (2:10.36) and Ulsh racing to first in the 100 backstroke (1:04.94). Chad Klotzbach (Basom, NY) and Aaron Cubells (Hamden, CT) also each won an event, but both swam as exhibitions.
On the women's side, senior Kristen Larsen (Fort Edward, NY) took first in the 200 individual medley (2:39.52) and 100 breaststroke (1:20.59), and classmate Katherine Gawrys (Ballston Spa, NY) placed first in both the 200 freestyle (2:19.03) and 100 butterfly (1:11.79). Elena Kuo-LeBlanc (Scituat, RI) also won the 800 freestyle (10:24.43) and 400 freestyle (5:07.62), but swam the latter as an exhibition.
Also winning individual races were senior Robyn Stone (Potsdam, NY), who won the 50 freestyle (29.42), freshman Emma Bonan (Queensbury, NY), who placed first in the 100 freestyle (1:04.03), and sophomore Nicole Pera (Jamison, PA), who claimed first place in the 100 backstroke (1:13.77).
