Toggenburg Mountain - Sophomore Drew Bonner's (Killington, VT) overall title at the Colgate Invitational helped the Clarkson University Alpine Ski team hold off the hosts for a sweep of the combined standings in one of the final regular season events of the season.
Clarkson's women swept through with team titles in the giant slalom, slalom and combined standings, but no individual titles were won by the women as Meghan Cleason (Canandaigua, NY) finished as the top performer in second place overall after a pair of seconds in the individual races. Mallory Gilmore (Woodbury, CT) was fifth in the slalom and seventh in the giant slalom and Margot Epstein (Sodus, NY) was sixth in the slalom and eighth in the giant event. Emma Masur (Wayne, NJ) also finished well with a 12th place showing in the giant slalom and a 16th place finish in the slalom.
On the men's side, Bonner won the combined title, as did the Knights, but the team was unable to sweep all of the events. Clarkson came first in the giant slalom, but second in the slalom, finishing just ahead of host Colgate. Kurt Naser (Arlington, MA), who placed third overall, came in first in the giant slalom and sixth in the slalom. Bonner finished second in both events, and Clayton Reynolds (Rome, NY) rounded out the top three for the Knights, finishing third in the giant slalom and ninth in the slalom. Other top finishers for Clarkson were Nick Skowyra (St. Paul, MN), who came in seventh in the slalom, Corey Vanlare (Fairport, NY), who was 12th in the giant slalom, and Jason Thayer (Macedon, NY), who finished 20th in the slalom.
