February 21, 2005

Labrador Mountain - Senior Josh Edlinger (Margaretville, NY) and Krista Hoisington (Kingfield, ME) each swept the slalom and giant slalom events for the Clarkson University Alpine Ski team as the Golden Knights closed the USCSA regular season with another victory, this time at the RPI Invitational.

Clarkson looks to extend its streak of USCSA National appearances with top showings at next weekend's USCSA Eastern Regionals. The men's team has made five consecutive USCSA National Championship appearances, while the women's team is looking for its first trip to the championships since 1993.

Edlinger swept the events on the men's side for the third time in five weekends for the Golden Knights, finishing first in the combined standings for the fifth straight weekend. Freshman Kurt Naser (Arlington, MA) came in second in the overall standings with a second-place showing in the slalom and a third-place finish in the giant slalom. Brad White (Watertown, NY) was third overall after finishing fourth in the slalom and second in the giant slalom. Other finishers for the Knights were Greg Gorman (Claremont, NH), who came in third in the slalom and 26th in the giant slalom, as well as Brendan Munnelly (Bethlehem, NY), who finished 31st in the slalom and 30th in the giant slalom.

Hoisington swept the slalom and giant slalom events for the first time this season, finishing first in the combined standings for the second straight weekend and third time overall this year. Katelyn Wagner (Troy, NY) placed second overall in the combined competition, placing third in the slalom and second in the giant slalom. Freshman Mallory Gilmore (Woodbury, CT) placed fourth in both events for a third-place overall finish.
