EDLINGER REPEATS, GILMORE WINS FIRST FOR ALPINE SKI TEAM

Freshman Mallory Gilmore (Woodbury, CT) and senior Josh Edlinger (Margaretville, NY) each earned combined titles this past weekend as the Clarkson University Alpine Ski teams both swept the Adirondack Division competitions at the Clarkson Invitational held at Whiteface Mountain.

In the cross-over events, which involved both the Empire Division and the Adirondack Division, the Golden Knights’ men’s team finished in a tie for first while the women’s team placed second overall. For all results, visit http://www.nysefracing.org/.

In the Adirondack Division competition, Gilmore was the overall winner on the women’s side thanks to a victory in the giant slalom and a third-place showing in the slalom. Finishing second overall was sophomore Krista Hoisington (Kingfield, ME) placed first in the slalom and fifth in the giant slalom. The third-place overall finisher was senior captain Beth Davis (Marshfield, VT), who placed fifth in the slalom and second in the giant slalom.

Other top skiers for the Golden Knights were junior Lauren Arredondo (Allendale, NJ), who finished fourth in the slalom, sophomore Katelyn Wagner (Troy, NY) who came in fourth in the giant slalom and 11th in the slalom, and freshman Margot Epstein (Sodus, NY), who came in seventh in the giant slalom.

On the men’s side, Edlinger repeated his victory from last weekend, coming in first in the slalom and third in the giant slalom. Sophomore Brad White (Watertown, NY) finished third in the combined standings with a sixth place finish in both the slalom and giant slalom.

Other top finishers for the men’s team were freshman Kurt Naser (Arlington, MA), who came in third in the slalom and 12th in the giant slalom, junior Toby Shaughnessy (Natick, MA), who placed seventh in the slalom, and senior Greg Gorman (Claremont, NH), who finished fourth in the slalom and 14th in the giant slalom.
