GOLDEN KNIGHTS BACK ON WINNING TRACK WITH 1-0 WIN OVER BOSTON COLLEGE

December 30, 2005

Lake Placid, NY - Two disappointing losses to Niagara just before the winter break could have started a downward spiral for the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team, but the three weeks off seem to have rejuvenated the 10th-ranked Golden Knights as they outlasted Boston College in a 1-0 shutout Friday night in Lake Placid.

The Golden Knights ended their short two-game losing streak and improved to 12-6-1 on the season while the Eagles, who received votes in the last national poll, fell to 6-5-4. The two teams will meet again at 2:00 pm on Saturday afternoon at the Olympic Arena in Lake Placid.

Sophomore center Brooke Beazer (Kingston, ONT) scored her fourth goal of the season with just 1:54 remaining in the third period to lift Clarkson to the win. Classmate Amanda Dittmer (Chatham, ONT) and junior Christine Bailkowski (Aurora, ONT) each assisted on the power play goal. Only seven seconds remained on Clarkson's man-advantage opportunity that started at 16:13.

Junior goaltender Kira Hurley (Pickering, ONT) made 20 saves for her seventh shutout of the season and the 14th of her career. Alison Quandt made 21 saves before being pulled for the extra attacker in the final minute of the third period.
Clarkson narrowly out shot the Eagles 22-20 and was called for just one penalty in the game while Boston College was whistled for five infractions.
