KNIGHTS RUN AMONG TOP COMPETITION AT ALBANY INVITATIONAL

Albany, NY - Competing against Division I and Division III schools alike, several Clarkson University Cross Country runners produced solid performances at the Albany Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

The men's team came in 22nd out of 27 teams while the women placed 16th among 23 teams.

In the 8000-meter men's race, senior Ken Crawford (Buffalo, NY) was the top finisher for the Golden Knights, placing 86th overall with a time of 26 minutes, 47 seconds, just two minutes off the pace. Classmate Dan Ver (Hamburg, NY) followed up Crawford for Clarkson, coming in 148th overall. Several other Golden Knights' runners came right behind Ver, with freshman Mike Ives (Ogdensburg, NY) placing 154th, senior Dan Marker (Elmira, NY) finishing 167th, and freshman Brad Sherman (Lockwood, NY) passing the finish line in 177th to round out the Clarkson scoring.

In the women's 5000-meter race, senior Kirstin Schillemat (Nelson, NH) was the top overall runner for Clarkson with a 44th-place finish in a time of 19:05. Junior Janine Laskoski (Scotia, NY) came through in 90th and senior Marianna Worczak (Eden, NY) was 102nd. Underclassmen Sarah Gardner (Auburn, ME), a sophomore, finished 109th, and Chelsea Reynolds (Endicott, NY), a freshman, was 118th overall for Clarkson.
