WRONG TURN ROBS KNIGHT RUNNERS AT LIBERTY LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIPS

October 1, 2005

Clinton, NY - Seniors Sam Morse (Camden, NY) and Ken Crawford (Buffalo, NY) highlighted a solid performance by the Clarkson University Cross Country team at the Liberty League Championships held at Hamilton College Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights men's team team finished fifth out of seven teams with 102 points, just eight points behind fourth place Vassar and 14 points behind third place Hamilton. Rensselaer and St. Lawrence tied with a team-low 39 points for first, while Union and Hobart finished well out of the running. On the women's side, the Golden Knights finished a surprising seventh with an incomplete score as only four runners finished the race because the team's bus, after a close to 90 minute unscheduled detour, showed up just a few minutes before the opening race.

Morse came in sixth place overall out of 88 runners with a time of 27 minutes, 33 seconds in the eight-kilometer race while his classmate Crawford finished three spots later and nine seconds behind. Freshman Mike Ives (Ogdensburg, NY) placed 31st while seniors Dan Ver (Hamburg, NY) and Dan Marker (Elmira, NY) ended the Knights scoring with 35th and 51st place finishes, respectively.

Senior Marianna Worczak (Eden, NY) was Clarkson's top runner for the women, placing 17th overall with a time of 25:12 in the six-kilometer race. Junior Janine Laskoski (Scotia, NY) was the second finisher for Clarkson with a 26th-place showing and freshman Chelsea Reynolds (Endicott, NY) came in 28th overall. Andrea Luber (Williamsville, NY) rounded out the Clarkson runners in 57th place.
