CLARKSON FALLS by ONE to WESLEYAN

The Clarkson University Men’s Lacrosse team let a four-goal lead midway through the second quarter slip away as Wesleyan University rallied for an 11-10 win at Jupiter Community Park in West Palm Beach, FL on Thursday.
 
The Golden Knights held a 5-1 lead in the second before the Cardinals (4-0) scored seven of the next nine goals to hold an 8-7 advantage going into the final period. Clarkson went back on top 10-8 with three straight scores in the fourth, but Wesleyan, ranked fourth in the first New England Division III poll, came back and scored the game-winner with 4:37 left to play.
 
Senior Jim Lavelle (Hamburg, NY) led the Green and Gold with three goals and four assists. Classmate Sean Pearce (Auburn, NY) added three goals and an assist. Seniors Patrick Ryan (Canton, NY) and Marty Reid (Hamburg, NY) chipped in two goals apiece.
 
Senior Brian Pratt (Randolph, NJ) made 23 saves for Clarkson.
 
The Golden Knights, who fall to 1-3 on the season, resume action up north when they play Oswego State at Liverpool H.S on Sunday afternoon.
