KNIGHTS DROP 2-0 DECISION TO ST. JOHN FISHER

Potsdam, NY - Betsy Pitcher and Jillian Sorensen each scored goals as St. John Fisher defeated the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team 2-0 in a non-league game Saturday afternoon at Clarkson Field.

The Golden Knights dropped to 4-10 on the season while St. John Fisher continued on a three-game unbeaten streak to move to 5-7-2.

The game was even for most of the first half with the Cardinals breaking the scoreless tie at the 42:46 mark when Pitcher took a crossing pass from just a few yards out. Melissa Gonazales picked up the assist, her first of the season.

The Cardinals picked up another goal 10 minutes into the second half at 55:35 when Sorensen took a through-ball from Megan Snyder to make the score 2-0.

St. John Fisher had just a 9-7 edge in shots and a 2-1 advantage in corner kicks. Stacey Gamble and Jacquie Gilmore combined to make three save in the shutout. Meagan Emlaw (Norwood, NY) made three saves before leaving with an injury and Lauren Arredondo (Allendale, NJ) stopped two shots over the final 20 minutes.
