HARNER SCORES SEASON-HIGH 22 POINTS IN LOSS TO #10 TRINITY

January 5, 2004

Josh Harner
San Antonio, TX - Senior guard Josh Harner (Houston, TX) enjoyed his personal homecoming with 39 points in two games, however the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team did not come away with a win for the third straight game and second on their Texas-roadtrip, falling this time to 10th-ranked Trinity University, 68-53.

Harner was the only Golden Knights' player to score in double-figures, as the senior guard tossed in a season-high 22 points, including 5-for-5 from beyond the 3-point line. Harner has now made 15 of his last 19 3-point attempts over the past three games. Harner shot 6-for-9 from the floor, overall, and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

Holding a 17-14 lead midway through the first half, the Golden Knights, who moved to 3-5 on the season, fell victim to a 17-3 run by the 10th-ranked Tigers at the end of the half, trailing 31-20 at intermission.

Clarkson fell behind by as many as 19 in the second half, but unlike Saturday night when the Knights doused a 20-point lead with a tremendous second-half run, Clarkson could only muster a comeback that pulled them within 12 points.

Sophomore Russ Vitallo (Dracut, MA) scored eight points and grabbed four rebounds, while freshman Nick Jones (Washington, DC) added eight points and three steals for Clarkson. Shane Fitts led the Tigers, who improved to 9-2, with 17 points, shooting a perfect 6-for-6 from the field and 3-for-3 from the free throw line.

Clarkson returns to action this weekend when they host non-league foes Keuka and Cazenovia.
