SOUTHWESTERN HALTS KNIGHTS WILD COMEBACK, 69-66

Georgetown, TX - Freshman EJ Harrison (Troy, NY) misfired on a 3-pointer in the final seconds as the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team just missed completing an amazing comeback against Southwestern University, falling 69-66 to the Pirates Saturday afternoon in Texas.

The Golden Knights, who moved to 3-4 overall with the loss, trailed by as many as 20 points in the second half, but fought back over 11 of the final 14 minutes to tie the score at 64-64 with 3:26 remaining before finally succombing to the Pirates, who improved to 6-5.

Clarkson fell behind early, but battled to a 3-point deficit late in the first half. However, Southwestern enjoyed a 12-0 run over the final 1:27 of the first half to take a 42-27 lead at the end of 20 minutes. Clarkson trailed 51-31 with less than 15 minutes remaining in the second half, but came back to make the score 58-55 at the 7:38 mark.

Freshman Nick Jones (Washington, DC) continued his fine play as of late with 18 points, just one shy of his career-high set in the Knights' last game against Division I Davidson. Jones shot 8-for-12 from the floor, grabbed six rebounds and added two assists and two steals in 28 minutes off the bench. Senior guard Josh Harner (Houston, TX) enjoyed his homecoming with a 17-point effort, including his second-straight 5-for-7 performance from beyond the 3-point arc. Sophomore forward Russ Vitallo (Dracut, MA) added 12 points.

Clarkson returns to action on Monday night when they face Trinity College at San Antonio, TX.
