JONES & HARNER SHINE IN LOSS TO D-1 DAVIDSON

December 19, 2003

Davidson, NC - Senior guard Josh Harner (Houston, TX) and freshman forward Nick Jones (Washington, DC) each showed that they could play with top competition as they scored 21 points and 19 points, respectively, in the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team's 98-60 loss to Division I mid-major Davidson College Friday night.

The Golden Knights, who moved to 3-3, were playing up a level for the first time since the 1999-2000 season when Clarkson fell to Cornell University 76-44. The Wildcats took advantage of their size, outrebounding the Golden Knights 47-26 in the game, including 20 offensive rebounds. Davidson made those additional chances count, scoring 33 second-chance points in the game and enjoying a 34-8 edge in points in the paint.

Harner scored 21 points on 7-for-16 shooting, including 5-for-7 from beyond the 3-point line, to pace the Golden Knights. Jones enjoyed his best game as a collegian thus far, scoring a career-high 19 points on 7-for-14 shooting, making three 3-points on six attempts.

Clarkson trailed 49-24 at the half, but, thanks to some excellent shooting from the outside in the second half, were outscored 49-36 in the second. The Golden Knights shot 9-for-19 from the 3-point line in the game.

The Golden Knights return to Division III action in the New Year when they face Trinity and Southwestern on a trip to Texas.
