CLARKSON SWIMMERS EARN UCAA ACADEMIC ALL-STAR RECOGNITION
The 1999-00 Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association (UCAA) All-Academic teams for men’s swimming and diving were announced on Monday, February 28, 2000, and Clarkson University student-athletes gained nine spots on the teams. To be eligible for selection, athletes must possess a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average, sophomore athletic and academic standing, and be a starter or significant reserve.
The Golden Knights featured four student-athletes on the women’s team. . Seniors Jen Rockwell (Milford, NH) and Anna Young (Potsdam, NY), junior Kodi Duprey (Ogdensburg, NY), and sophomore Krista Manno (Nashua, NH) each were selected for the women’s All-Academic team.
The UCAA is comprised of eight colleges in New York State, who compete
at the NCAA Division III level. Clarkson, Hamilton College, Hobart &
William Smith Colleges, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, St. Lawrence
University, Skidmore College, Union College and Vassar College make up
the UCAA.

CLARKSON SWIM TEAMS GAIN THIRD STRAIGHT DUAL MEET SWEEP
Senior Theron Main won the 500 (5:03.25) and 1000 meter freestyle (10:21.28) events as the Clarkson men's swim team easily defeated host Potsdam State 121-82. The Clarkson women's team also rallied from a five-point deficit going into the final event of the meet and beat the Bears 114-110.
The Golden Knights have now won three straight dual meets heading into the state championships. On January 19 at Plattsburgh, Clarkson swept Plattsburgh with the men winning 124-81, while the women posted a 101-99 victory. At Fuller Pool on January 29, the Green and Gold swam by Utica College with the men cruising to a 115-94 triumph, while the women earned a 121-100 win.
At Potsdam on Tuesday, senior Chris Lang won the 100 backstroke (58.05) and classmate Bill Newman captured the 50 freestyle (22.45) in their individual events as did junior Jeff Kibler, who won the 200 freestyle (1:54.56), and sophomore Nate Decker, who came in first in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.21). Though the Golden Knights did not win any of the relay events, they did take second, third, and fourth in both relays.
Freshmen Alyssia Sardinsky and Sarah Beamish, senior Jen Rockwell and sophomore Jennifer Miller narrowly defeated Potsdam State's top four in the 200 free relay (1.49.10) by just under a tenth of a second to lift the Golden Knights' women's team past the Bears. Sardinsky (200 freestyle - 2:06.78), Beamish (500 freestyle - 5:59.35), and Rockwell (1000 freestyle - 12:37.09) also won individual events for Clarkson. Junior Beth Lachut won two individual events for the Golden Knights, winning the 200 individual medley (2:29.37) and 100 butterfly (1:07.44), and freshman Katie Chevalier also came in first for Clarkson, winning the 100 breaststroke (1:16.38)

CLARKSON dominats the All-Academic teams
At the 1999 New York State Swimming and Diving Championships held in late February, the Clarkson women broke several school records and also dominated the All-Academic teams with the most all-stars in the state. Beth Lanz, Beth Lachut, Krista Manno and Jennifer Miller set a new women’s school record in the 200 medley relay at 2:03.55.

GOLDEN KNIGHTS SET RECORDS AT NYSWCAA SWIM MEET
Schenectady, NY – Several Clarkson University swimmers set new standards for Clarkson at the New York State Women’s Collegiate Athletic Association (NYSWCAA) swim meet this past weekend at Union College. Freshman Jen Faucett (Charlton, NY) broke a 15-year old Clarkson record in the 100 meter butterfly, finishing with a time of 1:01.23. Her record-breaking time helped her finish in third place in the event.
Freshman Veronica Wolak (Rhinebeck, NY) set two new Clarkson standards for the Golden Knights at the meet. Wolak broke a pair of 12-year old records with a time of :25.60 in the 50 meter freestyle and a :56.43 time in the 100 meter freestyle.Wolak finished sixth and 17th, respectively in the two events. Two relays also broke old Knights’ records.
The team of Alyssa Sardinsky (Solon, OH), Kodi Duprey (Ogdensburg, NY), Wolak, and Faucett finished in eighth at the meet but broke the old Clarkson standard with a time of 1:44.71 in the 200 freestyle relay. Faucett, Wolak, Sardinsky, and Sarah Beamish (Pittsford, NY) broke a nine-year old record in the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:21.91. Overall, the Knights finished in 11th place with 321 total points.
Also being awarded NYS All-Academic awards for the women were Duprey, juniors Jenn Miller (Oswego, NY) and Krista Manno (Nashua, NH), and sophomores Katie Chevalier (Chazy, NY), and Sardinsky.

KNIGHTS AWARDED UCAA ALL-ACADEMIC ACCOLADES
The Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association (UCAA) announced the Women's All-Academic teams in swimming this week. Honored student-athletes must have at least sophomore athletic and academic standing, a minimum of 3.20 grade-point average and must be considered a major contributor to their team.
Seniors Beth Lachut (Corning, NY), Kodi Duprey (Ogdensburg, NY), and Kristen Wheeler (Morrisonville, NY) were selected to the all-academic team for the Knights. Junior Krista Manno (Nashua, NH) and sophomores Katie Chevalier (Chazy, NY) and Alyssa Sardinsky (Solon, OH) were named to the all-academic team as well for the Golden Knights.

KNIGHT SWIMMERS SPLIT
Potsdam, NY - In the final dual meet of the season, the Clarkson Unversity Swim team split with Utica College, fell 131-103 at Clarkson's Fuller Pool.
The team won three indivudal events and two relays in their close loss to Utica. Sophomore Alyssa Sardinsky (Solon, OH) won the 100 free and was on the winning 200 freestyle relay while freshmen Veronica Wolak (Rhinebeck, NY) won the 50 freestyle and Jen Faucett (Charlton, NY) won the 100 butterfly. Both Wolak and Faucett swam on the winning 200 medley relay. The Golden Knights, who fell 4-2 on the season, gave 32 points in the diving competition to Utica.
The Golden Knights return to action in three weeks at the NYSWCAA at Union.

CLARKSON SWIMMERS SPLASH BEARS
Jen Faucett (Charlton, NY) won three events as the Clarkson University Women's Swim teams swept Potsdam State with scores of 108-87 in dual meets Tuesday night at Clarkson's Fuller Pool.
Faucett won the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly and also swam on the winning 200 medley relay for the Golden Knights (4-1). Veronica Wolak (Rhinebeck, NY) won the 50 and 100 freestyle events and was also on the winning 200 freestyle relay. Katie Chevalier (Chazy, NY) won the 100 breast stroke and back stroke for the Knights.
Clarkson returns to action this weekend, hosting Utica College at 1:00 p.m.

CLARKSON WOMEN SWIM by PLATTSBURGH
The Clarkson University women's swim team improved its dual meet record to 3-1 with a convincing 133-70 victory over SUNY Plattsburgh at Fuller Pool on Wednesday afternoon.
Three underclassmen led the Clarkson women. Sophomore Alyssa Sardinsky (Solon, OH) won the 200 free (2:22.69) and the 400 free (5:12.75). Freshman Jen Faucett (Charlton, NY), on her 19th birthday, placed first in the 200 individual medley (2:37.22) and 100 fly (1:10.16). Classmate Roni Wolak (Rhinebeck, NY) finished first in the 50 free (29.53) and 100 free (1:05.66). Sardinsky, Faucett, Wolaka and senior captain Kodi Duprey (Ogdensburg, NY) combined to win the 200 free relay. Sophomore Katie Chevalier (Chazy, NY) was the first place finisher in the 800 free (10:36.33).
The Golden Knight women are back in action at the RPI Invitational on Saturday, while the Clarkson men are off until next Tuesday when the Green and Gold host cross-town rival SUNY Potsdam at Fuller Pool.

FAUCETT WINS UCAA TITLE
Jen Faucett became the first Clarkson University swimmer to ever win an individual championship event, highlighting Clarkson's showing at the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association Championships.
A freshman from Charlton, New York, Faucett won the 100-yard butterfly out of a field of 26 swimmers with a time of 1:02.27 to lead the Clarkson women to a sixth place showing. Freshman Roni Wolak (Rhinebeck, NY) put her name in the Golden Knights' record book by setting a new Clarkson record in the 50 free. Wolak, placed sixth out of 59 competitors with a time of 26.13, which broke the 11-year-old Clarkson mark of 26.17 set by Laura Gregory in 1989.

CLARKSON TEAMS PLACE HIGH at NCI TOURNAMENT
Potsdam, NY - The Clarkson University Women's Swim team improved their finishes from last year at the 2000 North Country Invitational Tournament held Friday and Saturday at Potsdam College.
The Golden Knights' women improved to second place after finishing eighth last season,by scoring 292 points, trailing only Oswego State. Freshman Veronica Wolak (Rhinebeck, NY) was the lone winner for the Golden Knights in the tournament, winning the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.37 seconds.

CLARKSON SWIMS PAST ST. LAWRENCE
Potsdam, NY - The Clarkson University women's swim team continued their fast start to the 2000-01 campaign by sweeping St. Lawrence at Fuller Pool on Tuesday. The Clarkson women posted a 114-76 victory over the Saints. The Clarkson women will look to improve upon their 2-0 dual meet records when they swim at Oswego State this Saturday.
A pair of freshmen paced the Clarkson women. Roni Wolak (Rhinebeck, NY) won the 50 free (29.10) and 100 free (1:06.08) and anchored the 200 free relay (1:59.91), that also included classmate Jen Faucett (Charlton, NY), sophomore Alyssa Sardinsky (Solon, OH) and senior Kodi Duprey (Ogdensburg, NY). Faucett won the 200 free (2:20.33) and the 100 fly (1:09.28).

SWIM TEAMS PLACE HIGH at OSWEGO RELAYS
The Clarkson University women's swim team enjoyed strong performances at the Oswego Relays on Saturday. The women were third.
Clarkson's women's team finished in third place with 141 points. Oswego was first with 282, followed by Cortland (268), Clarkson, Potsdam in fourth (78) and Buffalo State (74 ½). The Golden Knights will host both the St. Lawrence men and women's teams this Tuesday at Fuller Pool beginning at 4:00 p.m.

CLARKSON OPENS SEASON WITH WIN AT ONEONTA
Oneonta, NY – The Clarkson University Women's Swim teams open the 2000-01 campaign in successful fashion on Saturday afternoon by defeating Oneonta State. The Clarkson men won 123-75, while the Golden Knight women posted a 115-89 victory.
Freshman Jen Faucett (Charlton, NY) set a pool record in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:02.98 for the Golden Knights. Also winning events were sophomore Sarah Beamish (Pittsford, NY), who won the 200 freestyle, freshman Veronica Wolak (Rhinebeck, NY), who won the 50 freestyle, sophomore Alyssa Sardinsky (Solon, OH), who won the 100 freestyle, and sophomore Katie Chevalier (Chazy, NY), who finished first in the 100 backstroke.

Potsdam, NY - Freshman Alyssa Sardinsky won both the 100 and 200 meter freestyle events as the Clarkson University women's swim team defeated Utica College 121-100 Saturday afternoon at Clarkson's Fuller Pool.
Senior Anna Young won the 50 freestyle and swam on the winning 200
medley relay team with juniors Kodi Duprey and Beth Lachut, as well as
freshman Sarah Beamish. Beamish (400 freestyle) and Lachut (100
butterfly) also claimed individual victories. Freshmen Leanne Deacon,
Jillian Barber, and Theresa Blatchford teamed with sophomore Krista
Manno to win the 200 free relay for the Golden Knights.

CLARKSON SWIMMERS GAIN VICTORY at PLATTSBURGH
freshmen Sarah Beamish won the 500 freestyle (5:57.39) and Alyssa Sardinsky won the 100 freestyle (59.13) to help lead the Golden Knights to a slim victory over the Cardinals, 101-99. Sardinsky and Beamish also swam on the winning 200 freestyle relay with senior Jen Rockwell and sophomore Jennifer Miller. Senior Anna Young also picked up a first-place finish with a win in the 50 freestyle (27.73) for the Golden Knights.
