Finnish Native to Join Clarkson Hockey Team

With the start of the 2010 portion of the schedule, the Clarkson University Hockey team will welcome a new player to the Golden Knights’ program. Head coach George Roll has announced the addition of Markus Piispanen to the roster. A 5-9, 170-pound forward, Piispanen (5/29/89) was the second-leading scorer for the Espoo Blues Junior A team in Finland, recording seven goals and 14 assists.

“Markus will provide an offensive dimension to our lineup,” stated Roll. “He is a highly-skilled player with good speed and playmaking ability. We have struggled to score goals this season, but we will look to Markus to provide a boost for us in that area.”

Piispanen (PEE-spa-nin), a left-handed shot, is expected to play for the Green and Gold in the Dodge Holiday Classic in Minneapolis, MN on January 2-3.
