Biography

All-Time: After transferring to Clarkson in 2013, Catano took little time making his mark on the Golden Knights' record books, setting three individual records at the UNYSCSA meet in February 2014...Swam the 100 freestyle in 46.99, the 200 backstroke in 1:49.77 (breaking the previous mark by five seconds), and the 100 backstroke in 51.41...Also swam on three record-breaking relays, including the 200 medley relay (1:35.70), 400 medley relay (3:31.32), and 400 freestyle relay (3:13.47)...Shattered pool and league records in the 100 backstroke at 2014 Liberty League Championships with a time of 51.91 seconds, breaking nine-year ol conference mark by nearly half a second and pool mark by eight-tenths of a second...

2014-15: Named Liberty League Male Swimmer of the Year for his standout performance at conference championships...At Liberty League Championships, helped 200 freestyle relay to fourth-place finish in 1:28.35...Won the 200 individual medley at the Liberty League Championships by more than three seconds with a time of 1:56.80...Part of third-place 400 medley relay team at the Liberty League Championships as foursome finished race in 3:36.80...Helped 200 medley relay team to third-place showing at conference championships with a time of 1:38.64...Earned 27 points for performance in the 200 freestyle at Liberty League Championships, placing third with a time of 1:45.11...Won 100 backstroke by wide margin at Liberty League Championships, setting new pool record by eight-tenths of a second and conference mark by four-tenths of a second (51.91 seconds)...Broke a 21-year-old pool mark at University of Rochester with a time of 1:53.42, nearly two seconds faster than the next competitor that day, in the 200 backstroke at conference meet...time was just one-tenth of a second off league mark as well...

2013-14: Part of record-setting 200 medley relay squad that shattered previous program mark at UNYSCSA meet with time of 1:35.70...Also part of 400 medley relay squad that set program mark at UNYSCSA meet in 3:31.32, good enough for sixth place...Broke three individal records and swam on three school-record breaking relays at the UNYSCSA...Placed second in the 200 backstroke (1:49.77) and sixth in the 100 backstroke (51.41) for school records, while split in 400 freestyle relay (46.99) was fastest stretch in program history...Also swam in "B" final for 200 freestyle and came in 13th place overall in that event with a time of 1:43.28...Came in fourth in the 200 individual medley at the Liberty League Championships, swimming the event in 2:00.25...Placed seventh in the 200 freestyle at the same event, closing at 1:47.75...Took fourth in the 100 backstroke at the LL Championships in 53.67 seconds...Raced to third place finish in the 200 backstroke at the same event with a time of 1:55.54.
