Frank Rotunno has been a generous supporter of Clarkson and the University’s Athletic Department since graduating with a bachelor’s degree in marketing in 1956. Rotunno has enjoyed being part of the team effort as a volunteer at Clarkson. His credits include service as vice president and president of the Clarkson Alumni Association, a volunteer for the admissions office, the career services office and the institutional advancement office, and three terms on the Clarkson Board of Trustees. Rotunno, a 1986 recipient of Clarkson’s Golden Knight Award, the highest alumni honor, is a Clarkson Trustee Emeritus.

“Clarkson has enriched my life and given me friendships that I have treasured for over 50 years,” says Rotunno. “I believe in Clarkson and I’m passionate about its future, so it’s natural that I would want to give back to help ensure its success.” Rotunno played a leading role in the funding of the current Fitness Center and was very instrumental in the construction of Cheel Arena and Campus Center. “I never saw hockey before attending Clarkson, but I was hooked at my first game,” says Rotunno. “I’ve followed Clarkson hockey ever since. The team’s success ties the school, its students, the North Country community and the alumni together.”

As an undergraduate, the Dix Hills, NY native was the founder of Clarkson’s Barbell Club, the University’s first student fitness

organization. After graduating from Clarkson, Rotunno pursued a very successful marketing career with Marathon Corporation, Potlatch Forest, and Constellation-Hygeia. In 1970, Rotunno founded United Sales Concepts, a sales organization for manufacturers of food service disposables.

Rotunno received an honorary doctor of science degree at Clarkson University’s 105th Commencement on May 17, 1998. The degree was conferred for “his outstanding leadership as a trustee and alumni volunteer in guiding the growth and development of Clarkson University, and for his exemplary business success as a marketer and entrepreneur.”
