AT CLARKSON –
One of the premier forwards in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) during the late 1990s … Added a lot of character to the Golden Knights ... Provided Clarkson with leadership and a determined effort every game … A big, strong power forward with a nasty streak … His aggressive style of play (392 career penalty minutes) made him one of the top enforcers in the ECAC and an invaluable asset to the Green and Gold’s success … He helped to lead Clarkson to a 98-39-10 overall record, two ECAC Regular Season Championships and four consecutive appearances in the NCAA Tournament during his four-year career … Scored the big goals, made the nifty pass and connected for some punishing checks ... SENIOR YEAR (1997-98) – Was honored with Clarkson's Bill Harrison Most Valuable Player Award after leading the Knights to a 23-9-3 overall record and a berth in the NCAA Tournament while serving as a co-captain ... The Green and Gold's
leading scorer with 39 points on 18 goals and 21 assists through 35 games ... The Knights went 20-3-2 when he recorded a point ... Selected as a second-team ECAC All-Star ... Skated in the Eastern College Senior All-Star Game ... Was named ECAC Player of the Week three times (12/8, 1/19, 3/2) and chosen once to the league's weekly Honor Roll (2/9) ... Tallied six power-play goals, one shorthanded - marker at RPI (2/13) - and four game-winners, including the decisive goal with 5.6 seconds left in 3-2 victory at Brown (2/27) ... Recorded second career hat trick in 4-3 win at Dartmouth (1/16) ... JUNIOR YEAR(1996-97) – A 1997 ECAC honorable mention All-Star … Earned Clarkson’s Most Improved Player Award … Perhaps the hottest goal scorer in the country through the 1997 portion of the season … Produced 18 goals in the first 19 games of the new year … Third overall on Clarkson in scoring with 48 points (23-25) and finished fourth in the ECAC with 34 points (16-18) … Celebrated his 21st birthday in style, scoring two goals and one assist in the 4-1 ECAC quarterfinal win over Yale (3/8) … Tallied five points (2-3) in five postseason games … Recorded four points, including three goals in the weekend sweep at Cheel of Harvard (2/21) and Brown (2/22) … Figured in on both goals in the 2-0 win at Yale (2/15), scoring a goal and an assist … Had a goal and an assist in 3-2 win over Union (2/7) … Had eight power-play goals and five game-winners … Posted his first career-hat trick in 5-2 win over Cornell (1/4) … Didn’t waste much time when it came to scoring … Recorded the fastest goal in Clarkson history when he opened the Knights’ 7-4 victory at arch-rival St. Lawrence (11/16) with his goal 10 seconds after the opening face-off … Also scored 30 seconds into Clarkson’s 8-3 win over the Saints (1/25) and 42 seconds into the Knights’ 6-3 win over Boston College (11/29) where he finished with four points (2-2) in the opening period … Tallied a career-high four assists in 8-4 win at Brown (12/6) … Named to the ECAC Honor Roll four times (12/2, 1/6, 1/20, 3/10) … Had a plus/minus rating of +24 … Led the team in penalties for the third consecutive season accumulating 86 minutes.
SOPHOMORE YEAR (1995-96) – Experienced a slip in his offensive numbers, but made an impact with his rugged style of play …Led the Golden Knights in penalties with 106 minutes … Scored ten goals and eight assists … Tallied a goal, on a beautiful backhanded shot, in the second game ECAC quarterfinal win over Brown (3/9) … For the second consecutive year, he scored two goals in an impressive Clarkson victory at Gutterson Fieldhouse against Vermont (2/2) … Scored a goal in four straight games in late November and early December … Tallied four power play goals and the winning score in the 7-1 victory at RPI (12/2).
FRESHMAN YEAR (1994-95) – After a slow start due to injuries, he established himself as one of the top freshmen in the ECAC and was named to the league’s All-Rookie team … The Knights’ top rookie scorer with 23 points on 12 goals and 11 assists in 32 games … A top specialty teams player with five power-play goals … Tallied two third-period goals in 5-2 win at Vermont (1/21), including the game-winner, to earn ECAC Rookie of the Week honors … Scored four points (2-2) in the playoffs, including one goal and one assist in 10-5 ECAC consolation victory over Colgate (3/18) … Tallied three points (2-1) in the Knights’ final regular season weekend sweep of Brown (3/3) and Harvard (3/4) … Led the team in penalty minutes (88).
BEFORE CLARKSON – Followed Adam Wiesel from the Springfield Olympics to Clarkson … Scored 43 goals and 41 assists for 84 points in 49 games for coach Gary Dineen’s team … Accumulated 249 penalty minutes in 1993-94 … The “Pics” Player of the Year in 1993-94.
