AL GRAHAM '59
Inaugural Class of 1992 Inductee

A star three-sport athlete for the Golden Knights in the late 1950s, Al Graham excelled on Snell Field during the fall with the Clarkson soccer team, was a dominating force on the Clarkson Arena ice with Golden Knights hockey team during the winter months, and was one of the founding members of Clarkson's then emerging lacrosse program in the spring.

Graham was a starting center halfback on the soccer team and helped lead the Knights to a 13-8-2 record during his career. He served as a co-captain of the 1958 squad, which enjoyed its best season in the five-year history of the program at Clarkson with a 4-2-1.

A big, fast and rugged hockey defenseman with deceptive speed, drive and ability to forecheck, Graham was a mainstay on the Knights' blue line for three seasons. A 6-0, 185-pound rearguard, Graham was praised by head coach Len Ceglarski as "possessing every attribute of a great hockey player." Graham, who delivered heavy body checks, could also start the rush up ice. He scored 25 points on four goals and 21 assists during his career, including 14 points as a team captain in his senior campaign (1958-59). During Graham's career, Clarkson enjoyed some of its finest success, earning two consecutive Tri-State championships and advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the first time ever, gaining two third-place finishes in 1957 and 1958.

He was a midfielder on the lacrosse team in 1958-59 as the Golden Knights were building the foundation for the success the lacrosse program now enjoys today.

Graham earned many honors during his illustrious career. He was the recipient of Paul J. Pilon Award in 1959, presented to the appropriate senior who has excelled both as a student and hockey player. He was named to the Tri-State All-Star team and All-East hockey teams. Graham was also selected Co-Outstanding Clarkson Senior in 1959.

The Clarkson University Athletic Hall of Fame was founded to honor and perpetuate the memory of those individuals who, either through participation, support or interest have made outstanding contributions to Clarkson athletics, and who have helped to bring recognition, honor and distinction to the University. It is with great pride that Clarkson inducts H. Allan Graham into the Athletic Hall of Fame.
