Rochester, NY - Coming back from a 2-games-to-1 deficit, the Clarkson University Volleyball team defeated Elmira College 3-2 in the first round of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Upstate Championships, 30-28, 19-30, 16-30, 30-22, 15-9 Friday evening at RIT.

The Golden Knights, seeded fifth in the six-team tournament, improve to 29-10 on the season and will now face top-seeded RIT in the semifinals at 11 am on Saturday.

Stephanie Thornton (Corning, NY) led the Golden Knights with five aces and 22 digs while senior Heather Sill (Mendon, NY) recorded 16 kills for Clarkson.
