Brockport, NY - Mary Rhoads (Fryeburg, ME) placed sixth with a time of 16 minutes, 19 seconds in the 4,000 meter race at the Brockport Invitational, leading the Clarkson University Women's Cross Country team to a second place showing in the women's race.

Sam Morse (Camden, NY) placed fifth in the 6,000 meter race with a time of 20:28, giving the Golden Knights a third place finish.

In the women's race, Clarkson came within just one point of sharing the title with Brockport, finishing with 52 points to the Golden Eagles 51 points. The University of Rochester came third with 58 points, followed by Mansfield (94), Oneonta (139), Mohawk Valley Community College (160) and Oswego State (161). Jessica Snyder (Constable, NY) finished 8th and Kirsten Schillemat (Nelson, NH) came in 9th. Also performing well were Marianna Worczak (13th) and Sarah Gardner (17th).

On the men's side, the Golden Knights finished third in the seven-team event with 94 points. Brockport won with 32, followed by Rochester (63), Clarkson, Oswego (103), Mohawk Valley Community College (123), Oneonta (148) and Mansfield (174). Aaron Sirtuli (West Winfield, NY) followed Morse's excellent run with an 11th place finish, followed by Brian Lawney (Port Jefferson Station, NY), Ken Crawford (Buffalo, NY) and Mike Otte (Aspen, CO), who placed 28th, 29th and 32nd, respectively.

The Golden Knights return to action next weekend when they will compete in the Plattsburgh Invitational.
