The longest trip of the year is scheduled for this weekend for the Clarkson University Golf team, as the Golden Knights head to Long Island to play at the par-70 Bethpage Red Golf Course in the Farmingdale State College Spring Invitational.

The Course/Field: Bethpage Red's championship course is roughly 7000 yards, but still a par-70. The team will join 15 other programs in the highly competitive tournament.

The Team: Clarkson is sending nearly an identical five to Long Island as last week with just one change from qualifying. Joe Tiderencel joins Ryan Makowski, Andrew Palmatier, Eric Spoth, and Tyler Yacawych for the tournament. Tiderencel had three sub-80 rounds in the fall and enters the spring with a scoring average of 81.9 for the year. Spoth led the team last weekend at Ballston Spa, scoring 146 over two days to lower his average to 75.2 strokes per 18, while adding to his tally of scores of 75 or lower, making it 10 for the season. Ryan Makowski is second on the team in scoring average at 76.5 and has five rounds with scores of 73 or lower. Freshman Tyler Yacawych has posted five straight sub-80 rounds dating back to the fall and shot 147 (75-72) at Ballston Spa last weekend, lowering his average to 77.8 for the year. Andrew Palmatier was consistent at 77-76 in the spring's opening weekend and dipped is average back below 80 for the year (79.7).
