Fitzpatrick Picked as Liberty League Player of the Week

Senior Devin Fitzpatrick produced in the circle and at the plate for the Clarkson University Softball team last week, helping the Golden Knights to a 5-1 record en route to winning Liberty League Performer of the Week honors on Tuesday.

Fitzpatrick slugged 1.136 thanks to eight extra base hits among her nine base knocks in the week, ripping four doubles and four home runs. She also drove in 10 runs and scored seven more, including a grand slam against RIT on Friday. In the pitching circle, Fitzpatrick posted a 1.40 earned run average with 24 strikeouts in 30 innings of work.

For the season, Fitzpatrick has a league-high nine home runs, setting a Clarkson single-season standard and career record in the process, and ranks third in the Liberty League in slugging at .797 while placing second in the conference in runs batted in (24). As a pitcher, she is second in the conference in strikeouts (59), recently surpassing 300 for her career at Clarkson. Her 1.81 earned run average is fourth and she has thrown a league-high 85 innings.
