Back for competition for the first time in three weeks, the Clarkson University Swimming & Diving team begins its long stretch of dual meets this weekend when it hits the road to take on Skidmore College.

The Series: The two schools rarely faced one another outside of league meets or other larger invitationals prior to the COVID shutdown, but since then the programs have challenged one another annually. Skidmore has won the past three meets on both the men's and women's sides, though Clarkson has bested the Thoroughbreds on the men's side at the Liberty League Championships each of the past two years.

The Team: Sophomore Gavin Cibelli won both of the diving events a year ago, topping 200 points in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events. He was the lone competitor for Clarkson to win multiple individual events, though both Casey Everett and Gavin Stuhler were close. Everett won the 800 freestyle by nearly 12 seconds, but was topped in the 400 freestyle by three seconds, while Stuhler eked out a win in the 50 freestyle and was just short in the 100 freestyle. Andrew Sammons was a close second in both the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke last season as well, and Landon Colby (100 butterfly) and Owen White (200 individual medley) had runner-up finishes. For the women, Natasha Hurff took third in three different events, placing as the bronze spot in the 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, and 400 freestyle, with the 200 being the closest (-2.77 seconds). Fiona Reilly came in second twice and third in another event for the Knights in last season's meeting with Skidmore, just missing out on the win in teh 200 breaststroke by 0.32 seconds. Evelyn Vieira also placed second in both dives, only a handful of points off the top score.
